Best Nail Sites: Blogs

There's a lot of nail sites out there. So many it's pretty much impossible to find a good one! That's why today's post will be on the best nail sites out there, focusing on blogs.

Pshiiit is my all-time favorite nail site! Well, besides my own. It has great tutorials and whoever writes it really knows her nails! The blog is in French, so you're going to have to translate it. (If you have Chrome a little blurb comes up asking if you want to change it to English.) I get a lot of ideas from there, and I hope you will too!
A Polish Problem is new to me. I found this a few days ago and thought it was worth mentioning. There's some cute ideas on this one, too. I don't know much about it, so I'm not much help. But it's worth checking out!
The Dutch Nail Blog is also new to me. This one I can already tell I'll love because of the pictures and the long page of posts. It's originally written in Dutch, but I got it automatically in English. Def follow this blog!

Triangle Nails

Tutorials are so fun to do, so I've done a bunch recently! Alright, so triangle nails. These are so cool! Whoever invented this trend is really smart, because these are an easy way to get awesome-looking nails. So, let's get started! Here's what you'll need:

  • A base color (the triangular part)
  • A main color
  • Tape (the cheaper, the better)
  • Scissors
  • Top Coat

Step 1: Base Color
I prefer not to use a base coat for these because it makes nails too thick
Apply a base color, very carefully around the top
Let nails dry completely before starting the next step

Step 2: Triangles
Cut a piece of tape into a triangle shape, like this

Place the triangular part of the tape over the part of your nail you want the shape to be at
Carefully apply pressure to the tape, but not so much you might peel off the polish
Paint with your main color over the tape and the rest of your nail
When done painting, peel off tape GENTLY!!!

Step 3: Top Coat
Once nails are fully dry, apply a top coat
If colors begin to blend together, stop painting and wait a little longer to do the rest of your nails

Reverse Manicures

Hello!!! Today I decided to do a tutorial again. Reverse manicures are pretty cool, and I've wanted to try them for a while now. Reverse manicures are basically a French tip near your cuticle instead the tip of your finger, hence the name.
You will need:

  • A creamy base coat
  • Base color (used for the moon)
  • Paper reinforcements
  • Main color
  • Tweezers
  • Top coat
Step 1: Base Coat and Base Color
Apply the base coat
Once base coat dries, apply base color
Be very precise around the cuticles; the top can be a little sloppy

Step 2: Getting the Moon Shape
Cut paper reinforcements in half, one half for each nail
On each nail gently apply half of a reinforcement to very dry nails
Apply slight pressure to reinforcement
Paint main color over nail and around reinforcement
Peel off reinforcement with tweezers

Step 3: Top Coat
When nails are completely dry (make sure they are!!!) apply top coat
Apply it gently so you can avoid the colors bleeding into each other

Newspaper Nails!!!

Today I will be doing a tutorial on how to do newspaper nails! For those of you who don't know, newspaper nails are imprints of the ink from a newspaper put on painted nails! They look really cool, and I just love them!
You will need:

  • Base coat and top coat
  • A non-shimmery nail color
  • Any newspaper (use one in a different language for a really cool look)
  • 70% or 91% rubbing alcohol
Step 1: Base coat and Color
Apply a thin layer of base coat.
Once that coat dries, put on about 2 coats of a lighter shade nail polish.
Like I said, try and use a non-shimmery color for best results.

Step 2: Newspaper
ONLY START THIS WHEN NAILS ARE ALL DRY!!!
Cut 2" by 1" strips of newspaper, one for each nail.
Dip finger into a bowl of rubbing alcohol.
Dip newspaper strips into bowl of alcohol and shake to remove excess liquid.
Put newspaper on nail, ink side down.
Put paper towel moistened with alcohol on nail for about 10 seconds, applying light pressure like a temporary tattoo.
Slowly pull off newspaper and see the ink transferred to your nail!
Do this for each finger.

Step 3: Top Coat
After 5 minutes of letting your nails dry, put any top coat over the ink.
The texture of the top coat makes the lettering look all cool!
